Although previously
considered something only an elderly gentleman might wear, cardigans for men
have recently seen an increase in popularity and are now considered a wardrobe
essential. There is a huge amount of choice in terms of style, colour and thickness
and this can be a little confusing at times, as can what to wear underneath.

The Double Breasted
These cardigans come
in a few variations, which make them perfect for casual and smart wear. Those
that have buttons lower down are perfect for wearing over the top of a smart
shirt and tie as they allow them to be seen and this makes them great to be
worn at the office. The double breasted with buttons placed higher up are
better for casual wear and in fact are often made from thicker wool so that
they can be worn as an outer garment in the place of a jacket and are perfect
on top of a t-shirt.

is very popular and there is plenty of choice available. The collar on these
cardigans can be small and discrete or large and loud; they can be belted at
the waist, have pockets, be thick or thin. The thing with these cardigans for
men is that they go great with anything and you will be able to find one that
suits a range of occasions. The thick knit belted version makes a perfect
alternative to a bulky coat on chilly days.

The Sleeveless
Often wrongly
described as a tank top, these cardigans are great to wear over most things.
They also look stylish underneath a smart jacket or blazer which gives them an
air of formality. In fact about the only thing they do not suit are printed
t-shirts. This is basically because you will only be able to see part of the
t-shirt design so they tend to ruin an otherwise stylish look. Again these are
available in many colours and knits, although the chunky knit is not as
popular.

field day with cardigans for men and have come up with some superbly stylish
pattern designs. The sky really is the limit here and you will be able to find
anything from a subtle stripe to a screamingly loud check pattern. The main
thing to bear in mind with this style though is that you need to keep whatever
you plan on wearing underneath it as simple as possible. Patterned shirts and
t-shirts really need to be left in the wardrobe as they will clash horribly
with this style of cardigan. Worn properly though, these make a statement and
look great.
